First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes divorce and aims to disparage. So is the story of Hulk and Linda Hogan who were married for 24 years, brought 2 kids into the world (Brooke and Nick) and then everything came to a screeching halt in 2007. In the short 3 years since their divorce, Hulk got engaged to a girl who looks disturbingly like his daughter and not be outdone, Linda has made sure she wins this battle.
To do that, she got engaged to her son’s friend Charlie Hill, who is a mere 21 years old! Linda will be 52 in August. If that seems ridiculous, wait, it gets better. The couple will get married on her boat called The Alimony. The 21 year old is the epitome of absurdity with bleach blond hair, orange tan and essentially a beach bum. Linda is obviously trying to make a point that she’s still got it, but unfortunately no one seems to now what it is or even if there’s a cure for it.
Brooke and Nick (the offspring) went to school with Charlie and he was a grade below Brooke. I’ll let you re-read that last sentence so that you can soak it in. He is younger than her offspring. Brooke was quoted as saying, “I personally don’t like it at all or condone it, but she’s my mom, so I have to show her support. I went to school with him. He was a grade under me. Me and Nick know him well.” It’s no surprise that Brooke is supporting her Mom because she’s still paying for Brooke’s struggling music career since Brooke is under the impression that the TV show had nothing to do with album sales and that people actually liked what they were hearing. Well played, Brookey. Well played.
This past weekend was a tad strange because there must have been some deal on wedding favors or something because the celebrities ran to the altar to hitch the wagon in droves. Among them were;
Martin Lawrence and Shamicka Gibbs
Martin Lawrence, 45 tied the knot with longtime girlfriend Shamicka Gibbs, 35, this weekend. This couple has been together for over a decade which is amazing. Considering that Martin has been in tough relationships before, it was probably a very scary move for him. The couple decided to hold the ceremony in his backyard and in attendance were some very notable guests such as Eddie Murphy, Denzel Washington and others. The couples 3 daughters were all flower girls including 9 year old Amara, 7 year old Iyana and 14 year old Jasmine from Lawrence’s previous marriage. They kept it very intimate and held the reception on the Beverly Hills property as well.
John Krasinski and Emily Blunt
In a much more extravagant wedding, John Krasinski (from The Office), 30, and Emily Blunt (from The Devil Wears Prada), 27, exchanged vows in Villa D’este in Como, Italy. The bride adorned a 3 carat Edwardian and platinum diamond ring that costs somewhere in the vicinity of $100,000. According to UsMagazine, she wore a “cream, chiffon, sweetheart-draped Marchesa gown with embroidered detail.” Unlike the Lawrence’s above, this couple have only known each other since 2008, but they’ve been a couple ever since. They have apparently been holed up in George Clooney’s villa in Italy since the 4th of July weekend getting all of the arrangements together. George and John shared the screen in Leatherheads and he was also in attendance at the wedding with his girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis. John noted that the wedding on The Office was a great way to have a practice run through of the real thing.
Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher
Top 40 Grammy winning country megastar Carrie Underwood, 27, said “I Do” to Ottawa Senators hockey player Mike Fisher, 30, in a ceremony in Greensboro, Georgia. The event that apparently cost somewhere in the vicinity of a half a million dollars took place under a lakeside tent. Probably doesn’t matter though since People magazine was rumored to have paid $2 million dollars to have exclusive access to the event. Guess we know what the next cover will be for People magazine. The wedding took place in Greensboro, GA at Reynolds Plantation. Carrie was said to have worn a Chantilly lace Monique Lhuillier gown and Monique also designed the bridesmaid dresses as well. The couple was spotted at LAX for their honeymoon that is to take place in Bora Bora and Tahiti.
Carmelo Anthony and LaLa Vazquez
The names may not be familiar to some, but sports fans definitely know Carmelo Anthony,26, as one of the many stars from the Denver Nuggets. LaLa Vasquez, 31, has been in many film and TV roles including Soul Plane and You Got Served, but was also on many TV shows like Charm School with Ricki Lake, Flava Of Love, I Love New York 2, etc. Yeah, those shows. The wedding took place in Manhattan and was heavily attended by many NBA players including LeBron James who was boo’ed when he arrived. But the stars were out as also in attendance were Justin Timberlake, Spike Lee, Kim Kardashian (with hubbie Lamar Odom), Serena Williams, Ludacris and many others. According to CBS News, the wedding “featured towering marble columns and chandeliers, and was decorated using red tablecloths, centerpieces of red Ecuadorian roses, hundreds of candles and thousands of red roses hanging from the high ceiling.” And if that doesn’t seem over the top, the couple, who have been engaged since 2004, sent out red and gold invitations that were decorated with Swarovski crystals and delivered in a black box featuring their initials. Good God.
Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton caught a lot of flack for a photo that wasn’t even real and could even possibly do jail time. Hilton posted a “upskirt” photo of Miley Cyrus on his website and even linked to it from his Twitter account to help publicize it. The upskirt part of the photo was real which was taken as she exited a vehicle very “un-ladylike” according to Perez. The problems started when the photo was doctored to make it look like she wasn’t wearing any underwear.
In L.A., this is typically referred to as “marketing” as practiced by the likes of Lindsey Lohan, Britney Spears, and Paris Hilton (no relation). The issue however is that Miley is a mere 17 years old which is very, very illegal and magically transforms from “marketing” into the realm of “child pornography”. Even though Perez admitted that the photos were doctored, he is not at all apologizing simply arguing that she shouldn’t have gotten out of the car like that.
Meanwhile, authorities are now involved, but let’s take a moment here to get real. No one should forget that Miley is not the all innocent role model that people are swooned into believing she is. She is certainly more of a role model than the aforementioned upskirt stars, but even some of the non-nude photos that were posted are pretty risque on her part. Not to mention the uproar over her Vanity Fair photo shoot taken when she was an even younger 15 years old. She is desperately trying to escape the world of Hannah Montana and photographs like the one shot by Hilton will certainly fast track that journey into adulthood. Does anyone really believe that Miley isn’t aware of what will happen when she gets out of a car inappropriately when photographers are swarming around her vehicle? Be honest with yourself. I’m not saying she was aware either way, but it certainly seems suspect a mere week before her new album release.
I am also certainly not condoning Perez Hilton’s behavior or the fact that he is a sleazebag who frequently posts hand drawn obscenities and drawings of penises onto celebrity photos. Intentionally taking a photo up the skirt of a minor is most definitely crossing the line and I personally think he should be harshly punished for his actions. Maybe he may actually get his wish of spending quality time alone with a bunch of men. Here’s hoping…
Sometimes a couple is together for so long that you simply just can’t see them with anyone else. Such is the case with Valerie Bertinelli and Eddie Van Halen who were married for over 25 years until their official divorce in 2007 even though the papers were filed two years prior in 2005. The demise was primarily due to Eddie’s addiction to Coke which was the ultimatum set by Valerie. Eddie chose the Coke.
While Eddie wrestled his demons, Valerie had begun a relationship with her financial planner Tom Vitale in 2004. A disturbingly convenient person to have on your side during a divorce for sure. The relationship blossomed and as of yesterday during a trip to Florence, Italy, Tom proposed and Valerie accepted. Valerie told the press, “We’d talked about getting married, but I was still shocked. It was sweet when he asked me, because he was so scared. I was like, ‘Are you kidding me?'”
Tom will do the wedding planning since apparently he even has specific ideas about what type of bells should ring during the ceremony. Now that is a man in touch with his feminine side for sure. He was deathly nervous about asking her stating that, “If the time wasn’t right, I wouldn’t have asked. We’re both still a little afraid of commitment, but then we were over there, and it was like our souls were calibrated.” So ladies and gentlemen, a big congratulations are in order because Valerie, you deserve it!
Word is that pop superstar Carrie Underwood is way too busy to do the whole beautiful wedding cake shtick and so she does what all brides in her position would do. No, dont buy the wedding cake from Publix, you do something that’s even MORE time consuming than a cake. Cupcakes! Where you have to make dozens of little cakes instead of one big one. Yes, that makes sense. Much more time efficient. However, some are saying it has nothing to do with time. It’s just what she wants to do.
Carrie has been with her fiance, hockey player Mike Fisher, since 2008. She initially shared some details about the wedding when she stated, “I‘m Southern. I like big hair and eyeliner. I want my wedding to be me, so I’ll probably be rocking some big hair and eyeliner… I want the dress to be pretty traditional. I think I want flowers on it – not real flowers. The designer will probably be someone I’ve worked with before.”
We know that the wedding will most likely be Fall or Winter themed since Carrie is currently on tour until the end of July. So, we have cupcakes for the reception, a wedding dress from a designer she’s worked with before that will have fake flowers on it, and that will most likely take place in Fall or Winter. We’re going to call Fall, because as a Georgian, there isn’t any place more beautiful in the fall than the Georgia mountains.
The first time since the bizarre unraveling of one of the most covered stories of 2009 and even into 2010, Tiger Woods is set to make a public apology (which we’ll post a link to here after it’s over, of course). It is being done at the TPC Sawgrass, home of the PGA tour, to a very limited amount of people described as a group of friends, family and colleagues, and only a few members of the press. The remainder of the uninvited will have to watch via satellite over a mile away. Not surprisingly, Tiger will not be taking questions.
While that alone may seem like news itself, the timing of the event is greatly in question as a possible swipe from Tiger Woods to Accenture. This weekend is big for Accenture since they are the sponsor for the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship in Arizona that will be in the middle of its third round when Tiger makes his apology. As you may recall, Accenture was the first to cut Tiger from their sponsorship roster when the scandal broke.
None were as annoyed as Ernie Els. The former U.S. Open and British Open Champion didn’t mince words as he told Golfweek magazine, “It’s selfish. You can write that. I feel sorry for the sponsor. Mondays are a good day to make statements, not Friday. This takes a lot away from the golf tournament.”
Tiger’s agent Mark Steinberg said that the announcement will be done well outside of their TV window and that Accenture officials were notified in advance that this was occurring and there were no issues. Even PGA commissioner Tim Finchem said that it most likely would have a positive effect by drawing crowds in to see what “this game of golf is about.” Besides the fact that people will watch simply to hear the inevitable commentary.
Regardless, Tiger has to win back the hearts and minds of fans again and even PGA officials agreed that there has been a huge financial hit with Tiger out of the mix. A near 50% drop. When he eventually decides to come back, the level of his fame will have severely dwindled along with a greatly diminished draw.
The saddest of it all is the children that have watched the rise and fall of their hero, which is a crying shame. There probably isn’t a way to recuperate from that aspect and it’s the worst of all of the fallout from this fiasco. Tiger’s image is tarnished and it could have been salvaged if he either waited to get married until he got it all out of his system, or simply maintained control of himself. Either way, hindsight is 20/20.
Beverly Hills 90210 actor Ian Ziering announced his engagement on his Facebook account when he changed his status from “In a Relationship” to “Engaged”. Ziering, now 45 years old, was previously married to Nikki Schieler Ziering and they were divorced in 2002. In and out of various relationships, Ian hooked up with Erin Kristine Ludwig on Labor Day in 2009. Gee, that’s so long ago.
At least she has met the one of his prerequisites, which is to have 3 or more letter I’s in their name. That is just weird. None of my dozens of close friends have more than 2, but yet he has three in his name (Ian Ziering) his ex-wife Nikki has a whopping FIVE in her name when she was married to him (Nikki Schieler Ziering). And when he gets married to Erin, she will also upgrade from four to five I’s (Erin Kristine Ziering) and if she does that multiple name thing and does Erin Kristine Ludwig-Ziering, then she’ll have them all beaten with SIX. Is it strange that I noticed that? Must be a German thing.
Anyway, their shooting for a Spring wedding. Erin a nurse and Ian is obviously a well known teen star from the original Beverly Hills 90210 back in the 90’s (when he wasn’t even a teen) and he made a comeback on the 4th season of Dancing With The Stars with dancing partner Cheryl Burke. Everyone seems to think the couple is happy together and well, the “I’s” have it. Sorry. I had to do that one more time.
